I can't remember in which feed this robot leg first jumped into my field of vision this week, so I'll just refer back to RobotGossip where it was featured yesterday. As my week has been too busy so far, I haven't had the time to include it here as an extraordinary way of robot locomotion earlier.
Developed by Toyota this single jumping leg, which constitutes an evolution from today's stiff-jointed machines certainly looks like an interesting development, I have to wonder about practical applications, though.
The statement "This is a basic technology that can be applied to a two-legged robot in future," by a Toyota Motor Corp. spokeswoman seems to confirm it's currently purely of research-value.
